Southend City Continues Their Dominant Run with a 4-2 Win Over Asturias FC

Southend City continues their incredible resurgence, securing their fifth consecutive win with an impressive 4-2 victory over Asturias FC. After a slow start to the season, Southend City has found its rhythm at the perfect time, and Saturday’s match showed exactly why they are becoming one of the most dangerous teams heading into the final stretch.

The match started with high energy as Southend City quickly took control. Alessandro Argueta opened the scoring in the 16th minute after a quick counterattack. Minutes later, Presley Castellan doubled the lead in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Asturias' goalkeeper Taha.

Southend City didn’t let up, and in the 32nd minute, Argueta added his second of the match, making it 3-0 and putting Southend firmly in command. Despite the early deficit, Asturias showed some fight when Reyes, their number 35, scored a brilliant solo goal in the 41st minute, cutting the deficit to 3-1 before halftime.

In the second half, Asturias came out with more urgency, creating multiple chances but struggling to finish. Their persistence finally paid off when Lopez, wearing number 10, scored a stunning goal from outside the box in the 76th minute, firing a rocket into the top right corner to bring the score to 3-2.

Asturias continued to press for the equalizer, but Southend City's defense held firm. In stoppage time, Benavidez, Southend City's number 5, sealed the victory by finishing a well-executed counterattack, making it 4-2.

With this crucial win, Southend City remains in third place with 23 points, just behind Ballers FC on goal difference. Asturias FC, despite the tough loss, stays in fifth place with 16 points, tied with Los Santos but ahead on goal difference.

As the regular season enters its final weeks, Southend City is sending a strong message: they are not just aiming for the playoffs — they are ready to challenge for the title.
